Summary of the NERG meeting held 12th April
At this meeting of the NERG there were around 30 members present. There were a number of speakers including Brenda Edmonds VK3KT from the WIA, Bruce Renn VK3JWZ and Mark Harrison VK3BYY.
Brenda VK3KT Told us of plans for the Science Show to be held 23rd through 26th August 2001 at Jeff's shed. The WIA is looking for clubs to provide ideas and personnel for their stand. Some of the ideas currently being considered are VHF/UHF across the hall, HF station, hand-outs, wall charts and checking hearing with audio oscillators. If you have any ideas contact any member of the committee.
Bruce VK3JWZ Gave a run-down on the contest he is promoting - the VK/trans-Tasman contest details can be obtained from the contest web site. The contest occurs on Saturday 5th May 2001 commencing at 0800UTC runs for 6 hours and is on 80 metres.
Mark VK3BYY Informed us of his dummy load building project and also gave an excellent talk on good and bad dummy loads and their construction - a number of members indicated their interest in building a dummy load and Mark is planning for a construction night in May - possibly the 24th.. .
Following on from these presentations hot cross buns were served with tea and coffee and the usual discussions took place. All in all a very informative and enjoyable evening. Don’t forget the next meeting on Thursday 10th May at the usual venue of the Simpson Barracks.
