Summary of the NERG Meeting held on the 12th February 2004

This meeting was well attended by 20 members and guests.  It was nice to see our successful student Adam Fisher attending - there was some concern about his injuries resulting from a biking mishap; we hope you heal quickly Adam.

There were two topics for the evening's discussion - the first was the future structure of the WIA and the second planning for the John Moyle Field Day.

There has been an informal committee established in NSW to discuss the future of the WIA - my understanding of the proposal is that the NSW division "takes over" the running of the Federal Office of the WIA and provides all the services for the rest of Australia. This means the other divisions would transfer their funds over to the NSW Division. I can see there will some heart ache in this, particularly for Victoria which is in a good financial position in comparison with the other divisions (apart from NSW). Discussion at the club meeting indicated that there is concern about issues like repeater funding, QSL bureau and local specialties such as towers and town planning. This issue is not over so come along to the next meeting and have your say.

We need your help this year in the John Moyle field day - there are about 10 people already on the list to come to Mount Macedon and we plan a concentrated effort this year with even tastier meals; and some operating! Contact Greg VK3VT for further details and keep checking the web site for updates.

Supper was served in the staff room and the conversations continued into the evening.
