Summary of the NERG Meeting 14th November 2002

This meeting was held in the Greenhills Community House and was well attended with about 30 members present. The guest speaker for the evening was Greg VK3VT who spoke about amateur radio contesting.

Greg ran a session on the fine art of radio contesting. This included a mock contest within the meeting room with Greg being the rare DX station and the audience shouting out callsigns and QSLs. After a slow start Greg was soon in the middle of a dogpile – all good experience for upcoming club contests!   Greg could not get any other members up to be the rare station! And his attempts indicated that he has been away from contesting a while and needs a little practice.

Jim Linton, president of the WIA Victorian division was a surprise guest. Jim has been out and about recently visiting several Victorian clubs and is no doubt getting lots of feedback from WIA members and nonmembers alike.
